Company Overview: Soda Peak Outfitters is a leading outdoor adventure company specializing in horseback trail rides, llama treks, covered wagon rides, and chuckwagon cookouts. Nestled in the Yellowstone region, we offer unforgettable experiences for guests seeking the beauty of the great outdoors. We are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Camp Cook to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Backcountry Meal Planning and Preparation:
    • Plan and prepare meals for summer pack trips and fall hunting camps in the backcountry.
    • Create menus that are nutritionally balanced, considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
    • Pack and organize ingredients efficiently for transportation on horseback or llama treks.
  2. Seasonal Operation:
    • Work within the seasonal timeframe of June 1 to October 31 each year.
    • Adapt to the demands of our summer pack trips, fall hunting camps, and other seasonal activities.
  3. Chuckwagon and Covered Wagon Cookouts:
    • Assist in the preparation and execution of chuckwagon and covered wagon cookouts during the summer.
    • Contribute to a welcoming and authentic western dining experience for guests.
  4. Kitchen Management:
    • Oversee the organization and cleanliness of the camp kitchen.
    • Manage inventory and ensure proper storage of food supplies.
    • Maintain kitchen equipment, conducting regular checks and coordinating repairs.
  5. Meal Service:
    • Coordinate meal service during pack trips and hunting camps, adhering to scheduled meal times.
    • Provide a high standard of presentation and taste for all meals served in the backcountry.
  6. Adherence to Regulations:
    • Follow food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
    • Implement proper waste disposal practices in remote locations.
    • Assure all grizzly bear food storage regulations are adhered to.
  7. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with wranglers, guides, and other staff members to coordinate meal schedules.
    • Communicate effectively with the team to address any dietary concerns or specific requests.
  8. Adaptability:
    • Adjust meal plans and cooking methods based on the available resources and conditions in the backcountry.
    • Be flexible and adapt to changes in the itinerary or group size.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a camp cook, especially in backcountry or remote settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of outdoor cooking techniques and equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of dietary restrictions and preferences.
